We receive tissue donations from 2 major sources:
Surgical operations
Surgical tissues surplus to diagnostic need removed at operations on living patients that is usually discarded.
Non transplantable tissues from cadaveric or non heart beating donors
Non transplantable tissues are very valuable to researchers who require healthy tissue to find out more about how diseases are caused or how to prevent known diseases such as cancer.
