The UKHTB offers a range of fresh and frozen human tissues, cells and subcellular fractions for research. All are rigorously tested to meet our high standards and specifications.
The UKHTB’s tissue samples are procured with the customer’s research needs in mind. We provide specimens in formats suitable to answer the most important questions in discovery and drug target identification and validation, which will ultimately lead to drug discovery and improved therapeutics. We also offer a flexible customised service that allows the researcher to specify how tissue is prepared and supplied to ensure their research needs are best met.
The UKHTB supplies 90% of the donated tissues in fresh format. This ensures that the tissue’s usefulness is maximised. We also have an ever-growing database of frozen tissue samples. For example, we have a portfolio of liver samples from over 180 donors. This enables researchers to select specific samples or customise pooled samples. Other formats can be supplied.
Fresh: We aim to offer fresh tissues to researchers as they become available to ensure the best use of the tissue.
Frozen: Tissues are snap-frozen in liquid nitrogen within one-hour post resection and within 2-8 hours post-mortem, for the highest quality preservation.
The following tissues are available in either fresh or frozen format
Liver
Lung
Respiratory tissue
Pancreas
Skin
Intestinal Tract
Blood Vessels
Eyes
Heart
Kidneys
UKHTB work with researchers to provide the most suitable products. We customize tissue sections, transport media, plating media and formats and use donor criteria to ensure samples are suitable for projects. Should you require media trials or cell density trials for certain projects these can also be arranged. Please contact us to discuss how we can help your project run as smoothly as possible.
